University College South. As from 1st January 2008 all Danish medium-cycle higher education institutions were re-organized into 8 new University Colleges. University College South (former CVU Sønderjylland and Kolding College of Social Education), was one of them.

University College South As from 1st January 2008 all Danish medium-cycle higher education institutions were re-organized into 8 new University Colleges. University College South (former CVU Sønderjylland and Kolding College of Social Education), was one of them.
UC South covers Southern Jutland and has approximately 3,600 students and 420 members of staff. The study programmes and activities of UC South take place in 4 different regional locations: Kolding, Haderslev, Aabenraa and Sønderborg, the joint administration being located in Haderslev.
This scattered geographic position is part of the strength and also the goals of UC South: embracing different cultures and professional traditions for mutual inspiration; providing higher education programmes, innovation and research, all highly connected activities
Bachelor Study Programmes • Teacher Education Teacher Education for in Haderslev • Nutrition and Health in Haderslev • Graphic Communication in Haderslev • Nursing in Sønderborg • Social Education, in Aabenraa and in Kolding • Social Work in Aabenraa • All study programmes consist of theoretical studies
Master study programme - new (as from August 2008). Language of instruction: Danish • Master in Treatment and Care of Substance Abuse, in Kolding
Other activities University College South also provides post-graduate diploma studies and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses. University College South acts as a regional centre for education, knowledge and innovation within the professional fields, and provides consultative service to pre-schools, schools, social institutions, as well as to municipalities and the private sector

The academic year runs from Mid-August to December (autumn semester) and from Mid-January to May (spring semester); only few lectures take place after the Easter holidays.
National Academic Cooperation University College South cooperates with the universities of Southern Denmark and Aarhus in the fields of development and research projects and the monitoring of Ph.D. studies for the University College academic staff
International Academic Cooperation and Activities University College South is involved in various international projects (Comenius, Erasmus, Nordplus and Interreg), in areas such as school leadership, didactics of natural sciences, foreign language teaching, e-learning and distance education, health promotion, nursing, and social education. International courses of short length are provided to nurse- and social education students within the Scandinavian Nordplus programme.
