James 4:11-12 Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. 12There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another?
Humility Refuses to Speak Evilof Another • Ephesians 4:29-32 • Do NOT speak words that tear down • Do speak words that build up and impart grace Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. Eph. 4:29
Humility Refuses to Speak Evilof Another • Ephesians 4:29-32 • Do NOT speak words that tear down • Do speak words that build up and impart grace • Do NOT let bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor and evil-speaking get a foothold in your life • Do be kind, tender of heart and forgiving just like Jesus was towards you Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. Eph. 4:31-32

Humility Refuses to Speak Evilof Another Humility begins with the realization that we all are in desperate need of God’s continued transforming grace. Apart from the transforming gospel we are all hopelessly messed up and broken.
Humility Refuses to Take God’s Place as Judge • Romans 12:14-21 • Live in the reality that God is the avenger of sin • 2 Corinthians 5:9-11 • Remember the terror of the Lord towards others sins • Galatians 6:1-2 • Seek restoration with gentleness bearing others burdens
Humility Refuses to Take God’s Place as Judge Humility allows us to remember that God is the ultimate judge of all mankind. When we have a judgmental spirit we are putting ourselves in the place of God, AND we fail to have compassion for the plight of those that we are judging!
Humility Remembers that Judgment Begins at Home • Galatians 6:3-5 • You are called to bear your own load • Matthew 7:1-5 • You are the problem in the conflict • 1 Corinthians 11:27-32 • You are called to examine yourself
Humility Remembers that Judgment Begins at Home Humility reminds us that we will give an account for our own sins. We often times spend much energy and time pointing out and picking out other people’s sins forgetting that we will be held accountable for our own sins not theirs!
Getting Personal How are you doing in your walk with God and others? I encourage each of you to humble yourself before God asking Him to expose your own sins and bring you to self-evaluation and repentance. I speak this to you today as one who has had to do this very thing this past week. God has (and is) using this passage to soften and change my heart. Like you, I am in desperate need of God’s continued transforming grace through the power of the gospel.
