  1. What can we know from a spray patternation test? The spray patternation test is an effective method of evaluating the efficiency of a spray. This test is generally used in industries to test nozzles and injectors. There is a high possibility that the nozzle of your hand sanitizer, deodorant, inhaler, or hair spray has been through a spray patternation test before it was launched in the market. The spray patternation test ensures that the nozzle is capable to give the desired outcome to the user. you use the spray method to perform various tasks in your daily lives and if your spray nozzle is not well tested then there are higher chances that it won’t be able to work efficiently to utilize your efforts the best. There are two major patternation techniques based on the diagnostic tools used for the test. The technique based on mechanical patternator is known as mechanical patternation. This is the basic method to test a spray pattern and it analyzes the distribution of spray throughout the surface. The other technique is based on optical patternator and it is known as optical patternation. This gives a keener analysis of the spray pattern as it utilizes optical instruments in the test. It gives a brief of spray distribution, mass of the spray, density of the spray, and more. Things you can know from a spray patternation test and how are they important  Area covered by the spray- This is crucial to know if the spray is giving proper coverage to the required area. Improper coverage or excess coverage can alter the performance of the liquid and the results may vary from the desired one.  Structure of the sprayed droplets- Droplets’ structure and size are significant for results. Let’s say if you are spray painting a wall; you would require small to medium size droplets that will spread evenly on the screen to assist you in completing the paint without much mess.  The angle of the sprayed cone- The angle of a sprayed cone or the spray cone angle is crucial for convenience of the user and decides the outer coverage area over the surface.  The density of the angular spray- Angular density is crucial to know if the spray cone angle is efficient.  The density of drops throughout the surface- This helps us to know if the spray is evenly spreading throughout the surface and is it dense enough to cover the surface in one or two sprays. An uneven or less dense spray throughout the surface is likely to give poor and inefficient outcomes.  Asymmetry ratio of the spray- Asymmetry ratio is required to analyze the difference between the expected and desired outcome. If the spray is highly asymmetrical then the real spray pattern will vary drastically from the expected one which ultimately means that the nozzle needs to be altered.
