STEM Launching to Success The 3 C’s: Community, College, and Corporate Allan Hancock College Ashley Brackett, Siboney Guardado & Emily Smith This publication/event was developed with the support of a Hispanic Serving Institution STEM & Articulation program from the U.S. Department of Education.
Being a designated Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) qualifies us to apply to grants that other institutions may not qualify.
How did Allan Hancock College qualify for a 4.3 million STEM grant through the U.S. Department of Education?
Need to improve student enrollment, persistence, and completion.

Establish seamless transition and remove identified institutional obstacles on transfer pathways between high schools and Allan Hancock College and between Allan Hancock College and universities (Absolute Priority #2).
Lessons Learned…Creating a seamless transition to 4-year universities.
Increasing articulation and increasing skill and outreach development.
What is curriculum development through the establishment of the Organic Chemistry class, Project Design Labs 1 and 2, enhancement of our anatomy lab and Math and Science Teaching Careers class?
STEM Career Mentor Program, organized “Tools for Success” workshop for newly admitted AHC transfer students attending Cal Poly, SLO and planned industry trips each semester.
