Ramah Navajo Heart Saver Project Year 4 Meeting 1 November 14, 2007
To Flagstaff To Abq. Ramah Navajo Heart Saver Project
Gardening Project • Designed as component of our less-intensive community-based activities. • Evolved to include a number of patients taking part in the intensive clinic-based activities.
Gardening Project • Historically, Navajos grew fields of corn, beans and squash. • At Ramah Navajo, some families now have gardens, and cornfields are few. • Water for irrigation is in short supply.
Gardening Project • Goals: • Encourage family physical activity through gardening. • Increase availability and consumption of fresh produce. • Help families become more self-sufficient.
