  2. HOW TORNADOES FORM tornadoes usually form in a giant rotating thunderstorm called a supercell. Supercells form when cold polar air meets warm tropical air. Tornadoes make a loud thundering noise when they touch the earth .

  3. HOW TORNADOES ARE CLASSIFIED • Tornadoes are classified by wind speeds on a tool called the fajita scale.

  4. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS • If a tornado is near or there is a tornado watch get to shelter such as a tornado shelter or any closed room without any windows.

  5. Meteorologist • Meteorologists are people that study tornados by observing current sky conditions, only if the right atmospheric conditions are currently available. Also by using Doppler Radar or NexRad, to identify Supercells within clusters of storms. A supercell does not always contain a tornado, but it will have a high chance to produce one.

  6. Tornado Season Tornadoes are most common in spring and least common in winter. Autumn and spring are transitional .

  7. The Parkersburg, Iowa EF5 tornado on May 25, 2008 .At least 70 injuries were reported, and the city's south part was turned into rubble. Over 400 homes were damaged, the roof was taken off the high school, and the gym was destroyed. The surviving residents were evacuated while the rescue operation was in progress

  8. Effects • Tornadoes kill our cattle and destroy our land and water supply. They harm our plant and then we have less oxygen.
