Brief Introduction History of Hawaii: Between 1778 and 1898, Hawaii was called Sandwich Island. It was merged in United States in 1898. It became the fiftieth state in the US in 1959. Another name: Aloha state. Meaning: The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness.
