CLIC detector - 2014 Part 1: Forward region and QD0: there are two options for the endcap yoke there are three (?) options for the L* there are XYZ options for the forward region
CLIC_SiD (5T) CLIC_ILD (4T) with end-coils (H. G.) endcap total: 2805 mm endcap total: 1960 mm endcap iron: 2445 mm endcap iron: 1600 mm new study by B. Curé: 5T field, 9 -> 8 muon stations endcap total: 1565 mm endcap iron: 1160 mm
First new CLIC detector layout (F. Duarte Ramos – 6 May 2014, FOR DISCUSSION) 2.8 m l/2 = 7 m
Proposal: (given the results on magnetic field studies etc. so far… use END-COILS) Work with an overall end-cap thickness of 1.4 m (includes iron + muon detectors) 1.4 m l/2 = 5.6 m
Forward region and QD0: there are two is 1 options for the endcap yoke there are three (?)two options for the L* (a) L* = 6.0 m (b) L* = 4.5 m (using a split QD0 in 2 parts; engineering resembles CLIC_ILD (?)) question of LUMINOSITY LOSS for L* = 6.0 m ??? -> for now, we have to keep both options ! there are XYZ fewer options for the forward region
CLIC_ILD – this could be rather close to the new detector model with L*=4.5 m for L* = 6.0 m: “traditional” layout “radically different” (coffee discussion with H.G.) (more details next meeting)
Summary yoke end-cap and L* • Propose to reduce yoke end-cap to 1.4 m • Propose to work with two options for L* • L* = 4.5 m (similar to CLIC_ILD) engineering aspects: shielding of HCAL end-cap, … ? • L* = 6 m many engineering issues to be studied; possibility for much better HCAL forward acceptance • N.B. We need answers about luminosity (-loss) for the two L* options !
