  3. Introduction VBDO Mission: making capital markets (more) sustainable Both on: • Supply side (investors): projects on institutional investors (pension funds, banks, insurers, private investors) • Demand side: monitoring of, and engagement with 55 largest Dutch publicly listed companies

  4. VBDO engagement activities • How: • By asking CSR related questions at AGMs of Dutch publicly listed companies • Follow up engagement • Based on: • Project results • Analysis of publicly available information provided by companies themselves

  5. Themes • Transparency • Responsible Supply Chain Management • Remuneration • Climate change • Diversity

  6. Vocal vs Voting Power • Difference between presence at AGMs and engagement behind close doors; • Difference between small and large investors; • Difference between AGMs and countries.

  7. Impact VBDO visits AGMs since 1995 • Increase in quantity of CSR reports • Increase in quality of CSR reports • Increase in integration between CSR and remuneration • Increase in performance on responsible supply chain management
