MST Multisystemic Therapy How are referrals made? Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), Department of Mental Health (DMH), Department of Social Services (DSS), Phoenix Center or the School District can make referrals. Client’s must have an open case with the DMH in order to receive MST services.
MST Multisystemic Therapy Identified Client: Juvenile offenders who exhibits antisocial behavior, physical aggression, or using substances. Juvenile offenders who are at risk of disrupting school placement or their home placement. Juvenile offenders who have open cases with DJJ and with the DMH. Age range is between 12 – 17 years old.
MST Multisystemic Therapy Exclusionary criteria’s for MST services. Primary caregiver cannot be identified. Suicide, homicide or psychotic behaviors are the primary symptoms. Sexual offenses - primary concern. Individual suffers from Pervasive Developmental Delays.

MST Assumptions are: Children behaviors are influenced by multiple systems. Change can occur quickly. Caregivers want the best for their children. Families can thrive without formal systems.
MST Multisystemic Therapy MST History MST was formed in 1996 in response to the community request for assistance with juvenile delinquent behavior. MST is currently in 34 states and 14 countries. GMHC added their MST team on August 18, 2008. Team Greenville serves 13 families in the county. There are over 500 MST teams operating world wide.

MST Multisystemic Therapy How do we fit in C & A: MST is a separate department that is part of the Child and Adolescent Program. All MST therapist must possess a Master’s Degree in the related field.
MST Multisystemic Therapy MST Therapist: Low caseloads 4 to 6. Therapist are available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. MST therapist operate in teams of 2 or 3. MST therapist engage families using non-blaming, strength focus language. MST therapist will take the clinical lead with delivering all services i.e., family counseling, individual counseling, marriage counseling, substance abuse, anger management, etc.
