Getting Involved Extracurricular Activities Research show that students who are involved in high school extracurricular activities get better grades, have better attendance, have better peer relationships, and have multiple, positive, adult mentors. Get involved!! Athletics 23 varsity sports offered Fall sports begin August 10 for football and August 12 for all others. MHSAA rules state that every athlete must have a physical on file in the office before they can practice. Fine Arts Band, Choir, Drama Productions, Art-drawing, painting, sculptures, and many creative projects developed in our Career and Technical Education classes. Clubs and Organizations Science Club, Art Club, Drama Club, Math Club Culture Club, FFCLA, FFA, Book Club, Skateboarding Club, BPA, Ping-Pong Club, Chess Club, Science Club, and many others.
Benefits to a Block Improved student – teacher relationships More positive school environment and fewer disciplinary infractions. Improved grades and test scores. Students will prepare for only 4 classes at a time. Improved attendance/reduction in tardies. Ability to retake a failed class in the same year or advance further in the curriculum.

NEW Graduation Requirements • Four (4) credits in English (Eng9-Eng10-Eng11+elective) • Four (4) credits in Math (Alg-Geom-AlgII-math sr.yr.) • Three (3) credits in Science • Three (3) credits in Social Studies • One (1) credit in Physical Education/Health • One (1) credit in Visual, Performing or Applied Arts • 33 credits total (Two credits in foreign language are recommended, but not required until the class of 2016)

Tardies Tardies Per Marking Period • 3rd Tardy: Class grade drops by 1/3 (e.g A to A-) • 4th Tardy: Class grade drops by 1/3 (e.g A- to B+) • 5th Tardy: Class grade drops by 1/3 (e.g. B+ to B) • 6th Tardy: Student is referred to the office to make up time after school • 10th Tardy: Suspension from school Almost half of our students get through the marking period with no tardies.
Attendance Attendance: • Students are required to be in attendance 90% of a semester to be eligible to earn credit • Appeal Letter: required to request exemptions for prolonged absences • Parent Excuses: Absences must be excused within two days or student is considered truant • Doctors Notes within 48 hours reduces absence totals • Students cannot leave school without prior permission from their parent/guardian
