Middle Grades Approved Areas • General Science - A valid elementary or secondary teaching certificate with twenty-four (24) semester hours in science to include credit in the areas specified below: • Language Arts/Reading - A valid elementary teaching certificate with twenty-four (24) semester hours in language arts/reading to include credit in the areas specified below: • Social Studies - A valid elementary teaching certificate with twenty-four (24) semester hours in social studies to include at least three (3) credit hours in the areas specified below: • Mathematics - 7- 8th Grade Only – A valid elementary or secondary teaching certificate with a passing score on the Middle Grades Mathematics (37) Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessment (AEPA) ** Physical/Earth/Space Sciences (12 semester hours) Astronomy Chemistry Earth Science Geology Meteorology Physical Geography Physics Life Sciences (12 semester hours) Agriculture Anatomy Biology Botany Biochemistry Ecology Environmental Science Microbiology Physiology Zoology Composition English Grammar Linguistics Literature Reading (including methods) MiddleSchool(Grades 7-8) Approved Areas Economics Geography History Political Science/Government ** NOTE:The Middle Grades Mathematics exam is now available.
