10. Achieving Collegiate Excellence and Success (ACES) is a collaborative program that seeks to create a seamless pathway from high school to college completion. ACES will focus on identifying and supporting students that are underrepresented in higher education and those that are the first in their family to attend college. The program would identify qualifying students and provide comprehensive interventions and support to help keep them on track for college enrollment and completion. As students enter Grade 11, they will be assigned to academic coaches from Montgomery College who will work with them and their families in high school to create and support a college-going and academic success trajectory. ACES students will continue to receive coaching and academic support services while they are enrolled at Montgomery College and work toward their associate’s degrees.

11. Concurrent EnrollmentMontgomery College and MCPS partnership Initiative Did you know that your student can earn college credit while still attending high school? Did you know that your student can attend MC while in high school and pay a lower tuition rate? Did you know that the college credits earned at MC can potentially be transferred to another institution.

Who can apply Select high school juniors and seniors who meet the college's Early Placement standards may enhance their schedule with college course work and experience the independence of college-level study while also earning college credit. Students and/or their family will need to contact Clarksburg’s Dual Enrollment Program Assistant (DEPA) to obtain permission to take a college course. Ms. McKinnon is our MC/MCPS liaison, please contact her in the counseling office for more information. Early Placement for the Spring semester runs until Friday, November 22, 2013. 35. Maya Gebeily’s College Search Tips 1. RELAX! Don't overanalyze colleges, and don't feel like you need to know every detail about a college before you apply. Sometimes a gut feeling is enough! Although I do encourage you to do research on colleges that interest you, you don't need to go as far as knowing what food they serve on Fridays in the dining hall :) Clarksburg Class of 2009

Some students think that a poor – or a great - score on the SAT determines their college career and therefore their path in life. This is absolutely not true. On your application, stress your passion(s), not your scores! 3. Make use of your resources CollegeBoard.com is obviously a wonderful tool, but make sure not to forget the terrific counselors that are available. This is something I wish I had taken more advantage of when I was applying! Clarksburg Class of 2009
