What conditions did many factory workers face in late 19th century? • The condition was they work in dirty poorly ventilated factories, and also workers had to perform repetitive, minddulling tasks, sometimes with dangerous or faulty equipment .
What did labor unions advocate? • African American formed the Colored National Labor Union (CNLU) in 1869. Led by Isaac Meyers. • The great strike of 1877 brought whites and African Americans together, but the labor movement remained largely divided along racial lines.
