THE ORIGIN OF UFAAS • UFAAS is a country chapter of the Africa Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services (AFAAS) in Uganda. • AFAAS is a continental forum for Agricultural extension and Advisory Services. STRATEGIC DIRECTION CONT… Broad Objectives: • To establish and sustain an effective platform for Advisory Agricultural Services in Uganda • To promote professional development, information sharing and networking among AAS actors. • To build capacity of Agricultural Advisory Services systems to provide innovative and client-oriented services. • To promote professionalism and ethical conduct in AAS systems in Uganda. • To advocate and lobby for an enabling environment for Advisory Agricultural Services in Uganda. Membership • Institutional membership is for institutions that contributes directly to agricultural extension and AAS; • Ordinary membership is open to professionals in agricultural extension related fields; • Associate and honorary membership is to other institutions and persons who subscribe and contribute to UFAAS objectivesy. Progress to date • Launching of the Forum and institution of representative interim committee May 2011 • Strategic plan and constitution finalized • Legally registered in January 2013 with a logo and now a website (www.ufaas-ugandacf.org) and email address (ufaas2013@gmail.com ) Uganda Forum for agricultural Advisory Services Website: www.networking.afaas-africa.org/uganda/

PROGRESS TO DATE • Host organization –identification process ongoing, Temporarily at the AFAAS Secretariat • Sensitization and mobilization of members at regional and national level • Registration of members in progress, starting with expression of interest (forms available) • Linked to AFAAS, IFAD and CAADP None State Actor (NSA) platform Uganda Forum for agricultural Advisory Services Website: www.networking.afaas-africa.org/uganda/

Progress to date • Finalizing operational plan and financial policy • Supporting National AAS innovations • started with an inventory of innovative AEAS • Advocating for an effective and efficient national extension policy • Organized a dialogue • Partnering with the media-4 articles so far Uganda Forum for agricultural Advisory Services Website: www.networking.afaas-africa.org/uganda/

Way Forward • Establishment of a focal point/host organization; • Resource mobilization • Holding an AGM to elect a substantive board • Implement planned activities under the strategic plan and the partnership Uganda Forum for agricultural Advisory Services Website: www.networking.afaas-africa.org/uganda/
