(Items that are unusable-expired, damaged- are not considered part of the ‘stock on hand’. Rate of consumption: The average quantity of stock dispensed to users during a particular time period (e.g. monthly etc.) Losses/Adjustments: Pilferage or damaged items.

    3. 2. FATE OF REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH COMMODITIES IN A PIPELINE From a logistic point of view only three things can happen to reproductive health commodities in a pipeline: -They are stored (store-keeping records); -They are moved (in transit)> transaction records; -They are consumed (used) by clients (dispensed to client) records.

    4. 3. VITAL TYPES OF RECORDS TO TRACK RH COMMODITIES There are 3 types of records for tracking reproductive health commodities in a pipeline: STOCK KEEPING RECORDS (STOCK RECORDS) TRANSACTION RECORDS CONSUMPTION RECORDS.

    5. 4. DEFINITIONS OF TOOLS A STOCK CARD; a generic name for: -inventory control card (stores ledger) -bin card- used to keep record for every brand of a product/lot. It is displayed at the shelf/bin where the lot/brand is found.

    6. 5.DEFINITIONS//Continued- INVENTORY CONTROL CARD: An individual stock-keeping card that keeps information about all brands/lots of a commodity/product. One inventory control card should be kept for each product. The inventory control card is the summary of the bin cards for a product. The inventory control card should note the total ‘stock on hand’ of a product in the warehouse, as well as the total losses and adjustments without regard to the lot/brand number or where the product is located in the warehouse. Inventory control cards are normally kept in the office of the warehouse manager.
