The learning environment: -A financial institution with 12 locations -Entry-level employees at all locations participating in ongoing training programs -Current training programs in a printable manual-style format; tests submitted on paper or via email The challenge: Find a presentation-sharing e-learning tool to support learning in my work environment (as my company’s trainer). The solution: Articulate Studio Software that works through PowerPoint and allows for the creation of e-learning courses Articulate Presenter: Articulate Quizmaker: Articulate Engage: Learn about Articulate Presenter Learn about Articulate Quizmaker Learn about Articulate Engage Creates Flash-based presentations and e-courses (like this one) Creates Flash-based quizzes and surveys to add to e-courses Creates interactions to add to e-courses • I can create and publish engaging presentations on a specific topic using content that is currently text-based I can add quizzes to any slide to test comprehension or assess a learner’s knowledge using a variety of question types, and provide a final score (see an example next slide!) I can create interactions that simulate realistic scenarios or demonstrate important points (see an example in two slides!) • 98908 Midterm Presentation JocelyneRowsell
Articulate’s Pros and Cons • Pros: • - Provides for more engaging learning environment than paper-based curriculum • - Allows for embedding of videos, quizzes, audio files, interactions, and animations • - Uses the PowerPoint platform; familiar to most content creators and learners • Allows for complete customization and company branding prior to publishing • - Can be used well into the future; easy to edit content or add new modules • Presentations can be published online and accessed remotely by users • Provides for affordances of Access, Creation, and Aggregation in a simple way • Cons: • - While creating content is relatively simple, it is time-consuming to create • - Requires Flash to play, which not all computers may have • Software is expensive ($1800 for Articulate Studio) • Publishing courses online can have company privacy policy implications • While it is an e-learning tool, Articulate still doesn’t provide an avenue for networked or collaborative learning. In conclusion... it all adds up to a great solution to modernizing my training and making use of a great digital medium. • 98908 Midterm Presentation JocelyneRowsell
