Cardiac Muscle • A cardiac muscle is a heart. • The cardiac muscle has different passages for blood to flow through. • Your cardiac muscle is between your lungs, almost in the center of your chest.
Arteries • Arteries carry blood away from your heart to tiny blood vessels called capillaries. • The pulmonary artery carries deoxygenated blood.
White Blood Cells • White blood cells help fight infection and diseases. • Blood contains fewer white blood cells than red blood cells but white cells are usually larger than red cells.
Red Blood Cells • Red blood cells carry oxygen. • Iron is an important mineral which helps give the red blood cells their color. • The reason your blood appears to be red is that every drop contains millions of red blood cells.
Plasma • Plasma is a yellow or straw-colored liquid that is mostly water. • Plasma also helps fight infection and helps the blood to clot and form a scab over a wound.
