SUPPORT TO THE ACCELERATION OF MDG ACHIEVEMENT IN INDONESIA 2013-2015
Acceleration of MDGs What is it? Catalyst to accelerate the achievement of MDG targets Why is it Important? Approximately 29 million people in Indonesia live below the poverty line Maternal Mortality Rate in Indonesia is amongst the highest in the region: 359 deaths per 100,000 live births
How it Works Strengthening capacities to implement Sub-national action plans for MDGs Acceleration (RencanaAksi Daerah/RAD) Supporting the Secretariat to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the Action Plans in 33 provinces. Working with Sub-national governments to develop financing mechanisms.
Key Results • An MDG Acceleration Framework (MAF) specific to maternal mortality was piloted in Central Java. • Use of MAF extended to eight other provinces with approximately 80 000 000 people.
Next Steps • Support the government to expand the use of MDG Acceleration Framework to reduce maternal mortality in nine priority provinces and 64 districts • Expand the use of available tools to address challenges on other lagging MDGs.
