  1. Eid al-odha celebrations Introductions This celebration is one of the two greatest festivals in the Muslim community around the world. The idea behind this celebration is to sacrifice(slaughtering sheep, camel or cow), to have peace and to ask God forgiveness .

  2. how do they celebrate? The first thing to do in this day is to pray. After the prayer every Muslim home is obliged to offer a sacrifice (slaughtering sheep, goat, camel, cow or any other beast). Share the meat and food with the poor people. This is also a major holiday for Muslims to visit and give gifts to the children. wearing a nice cloths(new cloths are preferable).

Foods What to eat: What not to eat or drink: • Halwo(Flour cocked with olive oil and sugar). • Meat is important to eat because this celebration is about to sacrifice. • Sanbusa(flour and water cooked with meat and vegetables usually triangular in shape) is also respected to eat • Pork is strongly prohibited in the Muslim society in any time. • Alcohol is not allowed to drink too, but you can drink any other sort of drinks that can’t harm or stimulate your brain.

  4. When do they celebrate? • Eid al-odha is celebrated the 12th month of dhul hija, of the Muslim calendar. • The celebration starts in the morning and continuo to four days.

  5. Why do they celebrate? • Following the foot steps of prophet Mohamed Muslims sacrifice and go to Mecca(pilgrimage) where Ibrahim slaughtered his only son(Ishmael)!. • To worship Allah(God). • It shows unity to the Muslim society around the world.

  6. conclusion • Eid Alodha (festival of sacrifice) is duty of each Muslim to go to Mecca • It symbolizes the essential concepts of the Islamic faith to commemorate the trails of prophet Ibrahim and his family. • The pilgrimage also enables Muslims from all around the world of different colors, languages, races, and ethnicities to come together in spirit of universal brotherhood and sisterhood to worship the one god together.
