Input Devices Lesson Outcomes Good – will understand what Hardware is and give a real life example. Great – will be able to explain the difference between manual input and automatic data capture. Fantastic – will learn that data can be input by touch, sound, light, control, magnetism and electronic means. Hardware There are a huge range of input devices on the market. These fall into two main groups: Manual Input Automatic Data Capture Manual Inputinclude devices such as the keyboard and mouse, where the user has to put the data in by hand.

  6. Lesson Aim • To learn a basic computer system and explore Input devices in real life situations. Input Devices Lesson Outcomes Good – will understand what Hardware is and give a real life example. Great – will be able to explain the difference between manual input and automatic data capture. Fantastic – will learn that data can be input by touch, sound, light, control, magnetism and electronic means. Automatic Data Capturedevices collect the data automatically and feed it straight into a computer. Some of them are operated by people, like barcode scanners, but some devices just collect data, such as web cams. Automatic data capture tends to cut down on errors and be quickercompared to manual data entry. However, they tend to be moreexpensive, and so are usually used when there is a lot of data to capture
