Lead Official • Adjust continually to the play • Always have ‘Good Angles’ • Always‘Open to the Play’ • ‘Hug’ the play each time
Lead Official • The Lead can Rotate at any time, but Rotate with a purpose and for a reason. • Anticipate the Play and Adjust • Don’t Hesitate-if you are going- GO!
Lead Official • BALL WATCHING ! • Do not be drawn to the ball (A.O.R ) • A.O.R. - (Working Area) • Especially when the ball is High during a Rotation.
Lead Official • Do not get stuck in the ‘Paint’ • Avoid staying under the basket. • Be sure Rotations are positive for a reason and clear to your partners.
Lead Official • In 3PO you can expect ‘Help’ on each play - examples • Lead +Trail - Penetrations strong-side. • Lead +Centre - Penetrations Centre-side. • Centre – Help? (Competence)
Lead Official • Referee the Defense. • Don’t penalize the defender who does nothing wrong and who has established a legal guarding position and stays within their cylinder. • Communicate Early with the Post Players.
Centre Official • Start low (Working Area) and Continually adjust your position to be able to make the right call. • Don’t be drawn to the ball when Trail has Responsibility Especially Mid-court opposite side. • Continually Adjust – Competence (Ability to see) • Call only what you are able to see.
Centre Official • Don’t guess. • STAY and HELP when PRESS in Back-court • Continually adjust to the play to see the best picture.
Trail Official • Trail the play - Always working to get the best possible angles. • Adjust + Open to the play at all Times. • Stay with the play on penetrations to the basket.- (L+T) Help for Lead • Avoid making Long Distance Calls.* Especially Low Post Opposite Side.
A.O.R. / COMPETENCE • Lead - Centre – Trail • Areas of Responsibility • Competence – ‘Ability to See’ • Help !
OFF-BALL COVERAGE • The Majority of the Game of is Played Away from the Ball- FACT ! • Whether you are Lead, Centre or Trail and the Ball is not you’re A.O.R. • You MUST concentrate on the play away from the ball – (A.O.R.) • This is CRUCIAL to maintaining FULL FLOOR COVERAGE at all times
Long Distance Calls • Make the right call - Long Distance Calls can be Expensive !! • Be in the best Possible position at the time and only make the Call if you are 200% Sure!! • Make the Call only to ‘Help’ your colleagues or to ‘Save the game’
Team-work • Be aware of what your partners are calling • Be sure the decisions are within the ‘Team’ philosophy. • Mistakes will happen - Not too many! • We can accept honest mistakes but please never at the end of the game. • It’s Important WHAT is right not WHO is right • Support and Trust in your Colleagues !!!
Bench Control • Bench Control is Essential to the Management of the Game • Be Sure to be Aware of any changes in the behaviour of the team Bench area • Communicate Early with the coaches regarding any Issues. • ‘ MANAGE THE BENCHES ’ • ‘ WE MANAGE THE GAME ’
Player Behaviour-Game Tempo • Be aware immediately of Changes in theTempo of the Game - React as a TEAM • Identify Conflict between players and deal with it before it gets out of control. • Be especially aware of any increase inContact -Especially away from the ball.
