Program Description Youth Orchestra LA (YOLA):The LA Philharmonic’s initiative to provide access to exceptional instrumental and orchestral education in order to promote youth development. • Primary Goals: • Build youth orchestras in underserved communities throughout Los Angeles with community partners. • Convene stakeholders to pool resources, share best practices, and create a pipeline for underserved youth to youth orchestras throughout Los Angeles.

EXPO Center Youth Orchestra Average cost of one YOLA Site/Yr $750K • Per Site: • 250 Students • 2 Orchestras • Fall, Spring, Summer semesters • Per Student: • 2 - 4 Group lessons/week • 1 Orchestra rehearsal/week • (5 - 7 hours/week) • Free instruments, free instruction • Parent/family participation Total Direct Costs $550K • Instruments • Teaching • Professional Development • Evaluation and Documentation • Trips/ Tickets to LA Phil $200K Indirect Costs • Facility Rental • HP and LAPA Overhead
