  2. S.E.A.D.O.G. SoutheastAirports Disaster Operations Group Airports are critical infrastructure to every region. Timely airport recovery is essential to rescue and economic recovery efforts. Airports are uniquely equipped to help airports.

  3. WESTDOG MISSION Coordinate fast responses by affiliate airports to specific operational or logistical needs by providing available, voluntary resources to help return a disaster-impacted airport to operational status.

  4. WESTDOG BACKGROUND • Began in May 2007 • Based on National Response Plan • Developed and structured to support “airport-to-airport” mutual aid • Regional coalition of airports • Patterned after SEADOG – formed in 2004 • Voluntary Affiliation and Assistance

WESTDOG FUNCTIONS • Lead Airport /Deputy Lead Airport receives request for aid from impacted airport. • Common Mutual Aid Plan • Provides structure and guidance • Provides standard request forms • Facilitates WESTDOG affiliates situational awareness • Plan written over a 2 year period and remains a living document

  9. S.E.A.D.O.G. SoutheastAirports Disaster Operations Group SEADOG BACKGROUND Grew out of aid by Savannah and others to Pensacola for Hurricane Ivan in 2004 Nurtured by AAAE Southeast Chapter Established in 2005 First official activation for Hurricane Katrina

  10. SEADOG FUNCTIONS Receive aid requests from impacted airport Disseminate requests for specific types of aid to airports in Southeast and nation Assess initial conditions at impacted airport Schedule incoming aid teams Advise aid teams on reimbursement and liability processes

  11. SEADOG STRUCTURE • Loosely structured—no binding requirements to send aid • Seven coordinating airports: • 4 Geographic coordinators (Savannah, Orlando, DFW, Washington, DC) • 1 Engineering Assessment coordinator (DFW) • 1 ARFF coordinator (DFW) • 1 Law enforcement coordinator (San Antonio)
