Issues which needs to be addressed • Increased expectations to the UNDAC Team • Changes in the Humanitarian environment (HRR e.g.) • Further specialisation of the OCHA staff members • Increased expectations to the UNDAC Team Leadership • Further Regionalisation of OCHA and UNDAC Team • Changed profile of the UNDAC Team members • Fast development and changes in the technology • New Methodology, partnerships and tools are introduced • Increased number of requests for training support • Expansion of the UNDAC team and “shorter membership”
UNDAC Training courses Issues: • Implementation of new Methodology with the New Handbook • Integration of the recommendation from HRR • Implementation of recommendation from IDRL work grp. • Increasing variation in the background of the UNDAC members Approach: • Methodology training at the Refresher course • Update of the curriculum for the Induction course • Pre-course training material and online training modules • Strengthening of the Selection criteria's
UNDAC Team leaders training Issues: • Increased expectations to the UNDAC Team • More complex emergency environment with many more actors • UNDAC Role in the establishment of Coordination platforms • Less experienced UNDAC members (OCHA – National) • The UNDAC Team is composed from a large pool of members • More partners working in support of the UNDAC platform • Increased media attention to sudden onset emergencies • Increased financial and administrative constraints Approach: • Establishment of a working group to develop contents • Endorsement of the Team leaders trainig course at the AB 07 • Development of course curriculum and selection criteria's • Conduction of the Joint pilot FACT – UNDAC Team leaders training course in June 2007
Online training modules Issues: • Technologically feasible • Cover none UNDAC core material • Strengthen membership between courses and missions • Managed via the virtual OSOCC • Support required for establishment of internal modules • Less costly and keep contact across regions • Some difficulties with motivation and justification for UNDAC members participation in e-learning modules Approach: • Introduction of mandatory modules (pre-course, e.g.) • Development of on-line training modules as introduction of new software and technology
External training modules Issues • Increased requirement for training • Limited training capacity within the FCSS • Cross utilization of expertise and know-how • Extension of networks and partnership Approach: • Agreement of fixed seats at training events • Identification of training requirements • Expansion of partnerships and networks • Increased cooperation with academic institutions • Including external partners in ToT workshops (CPH and GVA Universities)
