ColombiaReflexions about factors that increase women´s negotiating power • Women have decided not to renegotiate in all areas or spheres. They evaluate the viability, ability and the willingness of other family members in the home to take on other roles and tasks. Some renegotiate only in tasks related to the farm. • Some changes relate to ADAPTATION rather than NEGOTIATION. As women are absent in the home, family members take on in a “spontaneous manner” some tasks associated with the “survival” of the home. Relatives and husband look after older people, making sure they have their meals, bathing them Areas to Negotiate redistribution of work Working at the production center producing 300 brushes a day Less time for village responsibilities such as funerals, wedding
