Government Involvement: There is no/limited government involvement.
Government Involvement cont. • They are creating the foundation for a traditional economy. However, it is not strictly traditional. We have a mixed economy because of some government intervention. For example, people are required to re-plant any natural resource they use. • Because the people are stranded on the island together, they all have good work ethic and work together to further improve the standard of the community. Everyone’s help is encouraged and accepted. There is reduced friction among members • Land is privately owned. Our island promotes economic freedom. We want limited government involvement. • We have a capitalist approach. It is a classless economic system in which all resources are owned by the workers.
Economic Problem: We use up natural resources very quickly. We need to plan for future generations.
Economic Problems cont. • We definitely consider the needs of the environment and future generations. In order to preserve our environment and plan for future generations, everyone must replant what they have used up. They may only use natural resources if they are willing to plant more. • Ex. Bamboo, fruit, plants, trees • Certain people working in charge of those areas will oversee that this law is enforced.
Land • This island is privately owned • People on the land need to build their own houses and work together to make a living. • Must replant and rebuild what we use and cut down from the land • For example: fruit, trees, bamboos • Natural resources that will be used are bamboos, water, palms, fire, coconuts and other plants on the island • Rules to governing for the island is that if you take you must give back
Labor • Work that must be done for the island would be that the people must cut down bamboos, planting and growing food, building houses and using the metal from the ship wreck to create other materials • Jobs: • Fisherman, planters, cooks, builders and doctors • Everyone puts effort into all of the jobs • This is the economy where everyone is used to this kind of lifestyle and everyone likes the jobs they have to do and everyone works together to get the jobs done
Capitol • The kinds of capitol that will be produced would be the metal from the ship. • Other supplies from the ship: • Knives, rope, beds, kitchen supplies,
Basic Needs • Some basic needs that are met for the people on the island would be that everyone is to build a house and food supply • Minimum fighting between the people on the island, arguments are always settled in a calm manner
Economic Goals • One of our main goals is to have full employment throughout the Island. To achieve this goal we will teach the men and women to be fisherman, planters, cooks, builders, doctor, fireman, protectors and teachers.
Our Economic Goals • Economic growth is one of the main goals that we are focused on. Our Traditional economy has to set up a firm foundation for generations ahead. Guaranteeing that there will be enough economic growth to improve the standard of living.
Our Economic Goals • An important aspect in creating a new economy is economic security. We want to make sure that the people on our Island have protection against wildlife on Island, protection against weather conditions, and support when physical issues come into play. To make this possible, we must have the knowledge and resources to create an environment that will be secure. The bamboo that is on the Island can be used for hunting and weapons against vicious animals for protection. When we crashed on the Island we had a highly experienced doctor on board that educated many of the passengers on how to do CPR. This will help create a secure environment.
Our Economic Goals • With a Traditional economy the resources and division of labor are all equal. Everyone has the equal chance to benefit from the opportunities that the Island holds. In our traditional economy everyone helps to harvest, protect, and succeeded in order to survive.
Our Economic Goals • A goal of our Island is that the property is privately owned. Everyone must get their own resources to build their homes and protection.
Goods and Services • The goods that our Island provides is bamboo, water that we collect from rain droplets for drinking water, gardens planted by the people, fruit from the trees, coconut bras, grass skirts, metal from the boat, fire, and medicine provided by the doctor that was on the boat when the boat crashed. The services that our Island provides is transportation from the animals, tree houses to stay in, and classes to fish, garden, build, and fight.
