Graduation Requirements Student need to earn 25.33 credits: 4.25 credits in English (includes Speech) 3 credits in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) 3 credits in Mathematics 3 credits in Soc. Studies (Am. Cultures & World Cultures I & II) 2 credits in Arts/Humanities (includes World Languages) 1.33 credit in Health/Physical Education/Highway Safety .25 credit in Computer Application 8.5 credits in Electives Satisfactory completion of the Graduation Project
Post-Secondary Planning Post-Secondary Options Include: 2yr schools 4yr schools Technical school Military Employment Gap Year Our goal is to provide relevant information and support your students in identifying and reaching their goals!
Goals for Junior Year • Take rigorous courses • Achieve academically • Take appropriate tests • Participate in extra-curricular activities • Conduct career/college searches • Continue with self-awareness and identifying personal strengths • Attend college fairs/visit colleges • Enjoy the high school experience
Counseling Curriculum: Junior Year • Classroom Presentations • 4 presentations per year in junior classrooms • Teach about college/career planning, share resources, discuss relevant information, answer questions, demonstrate Family Connection • Individual Planning • Junior meetings are designed to meet individual student needs, to answer questions, and to assist students in their development
Computer-based program used to assist students in their post-secondary planning Includes: Student access/Parent access Used each year to help students research potential careers/colleges/post-secondary plans Resume builder Career and Personality Inventories/assessments Scattergrams with individual GPA & test scores http://connection.naviance.com/hersheyhs Family Connection
