  2. Parents should have this right Government hasn’t banned this yet because they know they would be banning a common practice so they may not get much support. The author, Carolyn Sayre, of Should Spanking Be Banned discussed a current law that’s in place with the states, “Parents, guardians, and relatives can use any form of physical discipline that is necessary as long as it is not unjustifiable.” (Sayre)

  3. Interfering with family affairs Government shouldn’t interfere, unless needed. . In an ABC News Article, it was stated that government shied away from an outright ban, fearing it will be accused of intruding on family affairs. (U.K. Votes Against Banning of Spanking Children) An overview of the right to be left alone was explained by Cornell University Law School, “Although not explicitly stated in the text of the Constitution, in 1890 then to be Justice Louis Brandeis extolled ‘a right to be left alone.’ (Right to Privacy: An Overview)

Another form of discipline The authors of When to Spank, Lynn Rosellini and Anna Mulrine, state, “In fact, the notion advanced by a slew of American child-raising authorities that a couple of well-placed swats on the rear of your beloved preschooler irreparably harms him or her is essentially a myth.” (Roselline and Mulrine, 52) . The author, Robert E. Larzelere, of Should There Be a Law Banning Spanking of Children discusses how spanking doesn’t make the child aggressive, “It is children’s defiance that makes them more likely to be aggressive, not the disciplinary methods used to improve their behavior.” (Larzelere, 17)

  5. Act isn’t violent, Person could be Could spank for too long or too hard. . Lynn Rosellini and Anna Mulrine discussed in When to Spank the appropriate spanking for your child according to the AAp, “By spanking, the AAP and other authorities mean one or two, flat-handed swats on a child’s wrist or rear end, not a sustained whipping with Dad’s belt.” (Rosellini and Mulrine, 52)
