Outcomes of physical discipline: • By repeatedly disciplining your child you are setting them up to develop psychological disorders such as mental, emotional, social, behavioral and personality.
Behavior and Social Conflicts • Your child could be more antisocial as they get older. They also have a much harder time handling conflict within their peers. You as the discipliner teach them that in order to solve conflict you need to resort to violence. You are also allowing them to become more aggressive not only to you as their parent but as well as to others much smaller than they are.
Mental and Emotional Conflicts • By resulting to physical discipline you are also giving your child the chance to develop mental illness such as depression, anxiety, anger, personality and many more. Research also shows that your child has a more likely chance of abusing alcohol and drugs in their adolescent and adult years.
Personality Conflicts • If you are constantly physically disciplining your child at home, their attitude towards others can become rude and unnecessary. They can also get to the point where they just completely shut down and become distant altogether.
Corporal punishment is still allowed in the United States and Canada with some restrictions based off the age of the child. It is only considered assault when the child is younger than two years of age and older than twelve years of age.
