The Obvious Whether its Student project or dissertation, Teaching Research (Malaysia [along with Yonsei) is a good partner to have for EU funding Exec-Education /Consultancy DO PLAN/DEVELOP projects as international ones As comparative studies context specific issues – in Social Science – in “Agriculture” in “Engineering” ……. Based on complementary resources (capabilities of colleagues or facilities in UK, China & Malaysia– now profiled nicely on the website Planning based on ‘complementary’ resources help also to overcome the fact that our individual objectives may be different. We not only have 3 campus locations – interesting locations and resources But branch campuses have developed their own links also NUBS Malaysia have developed good relationships with 3 Korean Us, a Vietnam U, a Thailand U and some Indian Business Schools ………. Etc)

What is the Arranged Marriage Model 1. “Need to believe in the ‘whole thing’” This idea of on university /school and three campuses (so it can be not just one partner - many partners … more fun) “Arranged marriage” – a perfect tool for cross campus teaching / research How to __________ with complete strangers Knowledge brokers to match make Visiting each other is a must – make the personal contact Follow up with communications (skype, tango ……) Get pregnant / have a ‘baby’ quickly It helps develop the relationship better We don’t focus on ‘US’ anymore – we focus on the baby “.. you love our publications more than me … (wife 2001, 2002, … 2012)

  4. A Model / Flow that’s working ? Initial contact With a complementary person / resource at school in branch campus There are ‘k’ intermediaries for helping with this (myself in NUBS Malaysia and if I may so I can help for FASS as we are in one building) Visiting each other (physically) have a meal together as said in Asia – helps tremendously (there are quite a few who can now vouch for this …. ) Also gives opportunity to understand ‘locational’ issues / things are VERY VERY DIFFERENT (look at the Trent Building equivalents in China and Malaysia to get an idea) Communications Then follow up with E-mailing and SKYPE The first collaborative MBA project with UK and Malaysia campus students followed this format -

Thank youif all else fails – saw on BBC Nottingham’s invented Embryonic Glue All this was possible without any doubt due to Supportive management at the top and on both sides Duncan The supervisors on both sides (Vicky @ Notts and Anita @ Malaysia) The good students And all the ‘organisers’ at Nottingham
