  2. (CP) • Cerebral Palsy is common condition. • difficulty with limb control, speech control and muscular control • walking with one foot or leg dragging; walking on the toes or a crouched gait

  3. Symptoms • The early signs of cerebral palsy are usually noticed before a child turns three. • Trouble walking. • Muscle spasms

  4. Why me? • CP is a non-progressive condition. • You cant catch Cerebral Palsy you get it from birth. • Its cause by lack of oxygen to the brain; when this happens it kills brain cells damaging motor skills.

  5. Prevention • There isn’t a prevention for this condition.

  6. Diagnostics • The Diagnostics of CP takes time because when a child has brain damage in one section of the brain other parts of the brain may take over the damaged area. • Its not easy to diagnose this condition so children are usually studied by an interdisciplinary team. They collect data about the child's accomplishments and make comparisons over the months and years of the child's life

  7. Treatments • therapeutic exercise program • physical therapy • speech therapy. • Drugs to control muscle spasms • Sometimes surgery

  8. Prognosis • Most people with cerebral palsy experience a normal life span. Those with severe forms of CP may have a reduced life span. As people with cerebral palsy age, they may experience long-term effects of chronic physical impairmentlike increase muscle spasms, joint problems, tight muscles and shortening of muscles.
