BACKGROUND (1) • SPRILUR is holding company of 27 subsidiaries • The group has built up some 90 Industrial Parks (in 25 years) • The oldest BAIPs in our country seems very like the first pictures • To change this picture into the latest is a big challenge for our organisations. • If we succeed, the reward will be: better environment, more competitive businesses and more attractive territories

  7. Business areas and industrial estates have made an important contribution to local and regional development. If they are properly developed and managed, they will continue to play a significant role. BACKGROUND (1)

  8. SPRILUR REFLECTIONS • The industrial estates are not only a structure, they have life – things happen there that affect, positively or negatively, all the companies and people related with that environment. • An industrial estate should live “In a permanent relation with its urban centre”.

SPRILUR REFLECTIONS • There are many players (stakeholders) involved in the problems that arise on an industrial estate and they are part of the solution too: • Municipal councils • Conservation bodies • Property Owners / organisations • Business associations • District/Regional development agencies • Real estate developers • Security agents ………..

SPRILUR REFLECTIONS • Managing an industrial estate is not only carrying out the administration of its common expenses as required by law. • It is necessary to promote the profesional management of industrial estates as an additional way of increasing the competitiveness of companies. • MITKE project offers to participants the opportunity to identify, analyse and transfer innovative tools and solutions which are succesfully used in one region to their own regions

SPRILUR REFLECTIONS • The “industrial estate manager”, as a multidisciplinary professional should manage all the common activities of the state • And promote continuous improvement trough cooperation among all the stakeholders • Addresing strategic areas. From access and security to waste management and environment issues, from territorial marketing to innovation linkages • These ideas lead to a “new model” for managing and promoting industrial estates

  12. BACKGROUND (2) • Managers should identifynew ways of supporting and revitalizing these real estate spaces, so that they promote innovation, dynamic growth and greater added value for the SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) located on them.

  13. GOAL • MITKE intends to seek, create, transfer and experiment the most appropriate intervention solutions and tools, so as to contribute to better management of industrial areas and estates in Europe. • MITKE provides a platform and mechanisms to gather, exchange and transfer experiences and approaches among the regions that take part in the project.

  14. BASIC INFORMATION • Lead Partner: SPRILUR • Technical Secretariat: LABEIN Tecnalia • Start date: November, 1st 2008 • Finish date: October, 31st 2011 • Total budget: 1.9 million euros • ERDF Financing: 1.48 million euros (77% of the total budget)

MITKE ACTIVITIES (1) • Analysis of business areas and industrial estates in the regions taking part in the project. • Identification of 30 good management practices. • Recognition of the best 10 practices. • Transfer of 6 practices among regions. • Organisation of 8 Interregional Seminars to support the identification and transfer of good practices. • Drawing up of improvement plans for the estates selected in each region, with a common methodology.

MITKE ACTIVITIES (2) • Definition of an Action Plan with interregional cooperation activities. • Disseminate tools and the most appropriate ways of managing business areas and industrial estates among the community of “policy makers” and professionals in Europe. • Agree recommendations to influence the management policies for these spaces.

EXPECTED IMPACT • Contribute to improving regional policies and instruments, so that industrial estates in Europe can better face the challenges of the global economy. • Create anetwork of agents(MITKE Network) committed to better management of these spaces, who collaborate beyond the end of the project.

MITKE NETWORK MITKE intends to facilitate the creation of a network ofsignificant agents committed to better management of industrial areas, that: • Participate and access the results of the project on the web. • Participate in future interregional sessions. • Participate in forums of experts which are organised on the web. • Collaborate beyond the project. • Help us to extender good practices to a greater number of organisations.

  20. MITKE NETWORK • What kind of agents?: Public administration, experts, business associations, industrial estates managers, education, etc. • This event is a first step towards creating this network.

SPRI network in PolandOffering Services to Basque Companies(1/2) Target market information and analysis, customised for the company, with a product / sector focus and having recourse to direct sources. Commercial introduction: search for and pre-selection of agents, representatives and distributors, business contacts with potential customers. Assistance in commercial and productive implementation abroad: advice on incorporation of companies and legal-fiscal questions, selection of locations; search for land, property and facilities; incentives for direct investment; pre-selection of suppliers of services and inputs, human resources, etc. Temporary location on the business platforms of SPRI Offices and EUSKARRI BBP (Basque Business Platforms) and support from their professional team. Organisation of trips for individualised prospecting, with working agendas and in-situ accompaniment.

Assistance in registering industrialintellectualproperty (trademarks, patents, inventions, industrial designs and models and geographical indications of origin). Contact with local authorities and administrations abroad and with other economic and institutional players. Access to financial assistance for external implementation projects (GAUZATU EXTERNAL IMPLEMENTATIONS).
