Idolatry happens when God’s gifts turn into God’s greatest competition
I said to myself, “Come on, let’s try pleasure. Let’s look for the ‘good things’ in life.” But I found that this, too, was meaningless. So I said, “Laughter is silly. There was nothing really worthwhile anywhere. • --Ecclesiastes 2:1-3, 8-11 (NLT)

…and when she came to the palace, he slept with her. 5 She had just completed the purification rites after having her menstrual period. Then she returned home. 5 Later, when Bathsheba discovered that she was pregnant, she sent David a message, saying, “I’m pregnant.” • --2 Samuel 11:2-5 (NLT)
God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. • --2 Corinthians 1:3 (NLT)
As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you… • --Isaiah 66:13 (NIV)
Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. • --John 6:27 (NLT)
I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. • --John 6:35 (NLT)
Isn’t life more than food? • --Matthew 6:25 (NLT)
Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure. • --Psalm 16:5 (NIV)
