Facilitating progression • Provision of online advice and an e-portfolio to FE and schools arts students to help them to put together an appropriate portfolio to gain access to HE arts degrees. • University of the Arts, London • Initiatives aiding transfer from HE to employment • Would like to build on Lifelong Learning Networks, Regional Skills Partnerships, and the Joint Progression Strategy • Systems which enhance progression between institutions

Facilitating progression • Working with other providers to create learning pathways between institutions and programmes so as to assist student progression • Open University in London • Building on work with London East Thames Gateway Aimhigher • Interoperability between partner e-learning systems • Making use of JISC e-learning tools and technologies • Working with schools to facilitate progression – working with students and staff – building grounded projects that continue long-term • Look at retention and achievement as well as progression – involve LEA, LSC, HEIs in local support mechanisms

Sharing resources and collaborative teaching • Sharing learning resources across institutions • Explore how eLearning systems can be used across institutions • Creating collaborative course/programme provision • Foundation degrees – especially ICT • Building on NTI and HEIF 2 knowledge exchange networks

Supporting the independent lifelong learner • Supporting work-based learning • Involvement of older people and disabled people • Accessibility and support for young people with learning difficulties • Empowerment of learners to aid transitions between formal and informal learning throughout life
