Role of London TravelWatch • Represent the interests of passengers and users • Transport for London functions • National Rail (boundaries broadly the London airports) • Act as an appeals body for complaints not resolved with operators • Consider applications for closure of railways and make recommendations to the Secretary of State (National Rail) or the Mayor (London Underground/DLR)

  3. Our legal status • Statutory body set up by Greater London Authority Act 1999 • 12 Members and 1 Chairman appointed by the London Assembly • Budget of approximately £2m funded by the London Assembly

  5. How we achieve these aims • Research programme • Holding operators to account • Lobbying • Raising public awareness of issues • Using casework and observation • Working with local groups
