  1. Studying and doing homework are crucial to doing well in your classes. To ensure the academic success of all of our residents, studying is a protected right. Sleep is one of the biggest factors in:-your health-your grades-your happiness-your successThat’s why sleep is a protected right in the residence halls.

  2. Visitors to the halls are a privilege that is allowed. Visitors may be asked to leave the building if they are violating housing policy or if they are violating the rights of others. If your right to sleep or study is being violated, you have the right to make a complaint. Either directly to the individual or through a staff member.

  3. Your right to free speech is respected and understood, however if you say something that is offensive to others, you may be asked to stop using that language in order to make the residence halls are a safe place for everyone. While making friends is important, it is not a right. Meeting and getting to know new people is a great part of college, but it is not the most important reason that you are here. Socializing is a privilege.

Other residence hall rules and regulations Prohibited Items: • Animals that aren’t fish. • Toasters, • George Foreman-type grills • Hot plates • Waffle irons • Toaster Ovens • Space heater • Fireworks • Firearms • Other weapons Prohibited Activities: • Use of illegal substances • Underage use of alcohol • Rough play • Gambling • Skating / Biking in halls • Smoking in halls • Post flyers without permission of hall staff
