  6. What is a Student-centered approach? • Focuses on the students needs, emphasizes the student taking an active role in the learning process. • The Teacher-centric approach focuses on the delivery of content. Evolve

  7. Students - active, responsible participants in their own learning? • Students become active learners. • Lecturers become facilitators of learning through interaction and discussion. • Simple transparent course design and useful materials. Evolve

Self-paced, Self-directed and Independent learning • Students are given a choice of when, where and how they learn. • Self-paced: All materials and tasks are made available from the start of semester. • Self-directed: Student are presented with a variety of presentation formats and activity types. • Independent Learning: The onus is on the student to work through presentations and tasks. Interactive Learning Sessions • Online technologies use a mix of: • Online materials and tests, • Synchronous Wimba sessions, • Collaborative activities, and • Task requiring the use of the Discussion board or Emails communications. • Small groups give everyone the opportunity to develop important interpersonal and communication skills. Evolve

  12. Continuous Assessment and Regular Feedback • Regular feedback and guidance for both assessed and un-assessed task. • Helps give students confidents while allowing them to tracks their progress through the topic. Evolve
