Numerical Expressions • Contains a combination of numbers and operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. • Write the expression (do not evaluate) • The cost of ten yo-yos if each costs three dollars • The number of students in each group if fifteen students are divided into five equal groups

  3. Order of Operations • Evaluate inside grouping symbols • Evaluate Exponents • Multiply and/or Divide from left to right • Add and/or subtract from left to right • 6 – 3 + 5 2. 24/3 x 9 3. 2[(10 – 3) + 6(5)] 4. (19-7)/(25-22)

  4. Writing expressions to solve problems • A cell phone company charges $15 per month and $0.25 for each call made or received. Write and the evaluate an expression to find the cost for 40 calls during one month. Then make a table showing the cost for 40, 50, 60, and 70 calls.

  5. Assignment • Pg. 8-9 #12-29, 34, 35
