  6. It is acceptable for beginning oboe students to play on machine made reeds; HOWEVER… If the oboe player is committed to playing the instrument well, he or she will make his or her own reeds. This is because a machine is not able to detect the different problems that might happen after the player has already started playing on it! Reeds
