Calendars;When we created the project, P3 asked two questions: a) Workdays/Week b) Weeks starts onWe answered the first question with 6, and thesecond question with Monday.Accordingly P3 will create an individual calendar, and its ID is 1, which contains that the working days of the week are Monday, Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday,Friday and Saturday,and the one weekend is Sunday.

  4. Calendars (Contd.);Global Calendar:-P3 has a unique calendar called Global calendar. This calendar contains information which will affect the whole project and the other individual calendars.Global Calendar can’t be assigned to activities 4

  5. Calendars (contd.);Individual Calendar:-P3 has up to 31 individual calendars.These calendars will be assigned to activities.Individual calendar contains information which will affect only the activities attached to it. 5

  6. Calendars (contd.);Global Calendar Information:-25th Dec will be observed as a holiday every year.14th Aug will be observed as a holiday every year.6th Sep will be observed as a holiday every year.

  7. Calendars;Calendar 1 Information:-(6 Days a week)Eidul Fitar Holidays from 23rd to 26th Sep,2009Eidul Azha Holidays from 4th to 6th Dec,20095th Feb  Kashmri Brethren, every year.Non working Period 7th to 21st Feb,2009 7

  8. Calendars;Calendar 2 Information:-(7 Days a week)Continuous Work---- No HolidayRemove all holidays defined in Global Calendar 8

  9. Logic Relationships;Logic relationship is a link which ties two activities in a sequence manner, for instance:Excavation  Foundation Sand Filling 9

  10. Logic Relationships (contd.); Types of Relationships:- P3 supports four types of relationships:i. Finish-To-Start (known as FS)ii. Start-To-Start (known as SS)iii. Finish-To-Finish (known as FF)iv. Start-To-Finish (known as SF) 10

  11. Logic Relationships (contd.);i) Finish-To-Start:- The most commonly used relationship and the default relationship in P3. When A finishes B starts the next day: 11

  12. Logic Relationships (contd.);ii) Start-To-Start:- One of two relationships which allow parallel activities; when A starts, B starts at the same day: 12

  13. Logic Relationships (contd.);iii) Finish-To-Finish:-The second relationship which allows parallel activities; when A finishes, B finishes at the same day: 13

  14. Logic Relationships (contd.);iv) Start-To-Finish:- This relationship is seldom used by planners; when A starts B finishes 14

  15. Relationships with Lag;Lag time is the number of time-periods (days in our case) which we delay the successor from its predecessor. Lag time can be positive, or negative. 15
