Conclusions: • YUCCA6 controls unique phenotypes not controlled by other YUCCA gene family members. • 35S YUCCA6 overexpression recapitulates all phenotypes of the original YUCCA6 OX mutant and multiple OX alleles of YUCCA6 have the same phenotype: therefore, YUCCA6 is the correct locus involved in these phenotypes. • Removal of the increased auxin resulting from overexpression of YUCCA6 does not remove all of the phenotypes resulting from YUCCA6 overexpression, e.g. staygreen. • Therefore, some phenotypes like staygreen are not directly the result of auxin overproduction but appear to be related somehow to ROS levels.
