Who is eligible for funding from RochesterWorks? • Dislocated workers who live or have worked in Monroe County • Monroe County residents 18 years of age or older who satisfy eligibility requirements.
Who is eligible for funding from RochesterWorks? Individuals NOT working must demonstrate that they are unable to find or keep a job with their current skills.
Who is eligible for funding from RochesterWorks? Employed workers earning less than $25.00 per hour may be eligible to receive funds to upgrade their skills under specific circumstances such as….
Who is eligible for funding from RochesterWorks? Employed workers who are unable to advance in their career or increase their earnings and can show that training will result in full-time employment and higher earnings.
Who is eligible for funding from RochesterWorks? Health care workers in need of training to move up the career ladder and earn higher wages.
What types of training CAN be funded? • Training that leads to full-time employment • Training programs approved for WIA funding • Training that can be completed in 2 years or less • Training that results in a degree, diploma, or a certification
What types of training CANNOT be funded? • Programs that require more than 2 years to complete • Prerequisite courses • Non-Vocational Programs i.e. Liberal Arts • Career changes for those with marketable skills • Correspondence and home study programs • Courses can not be funded retroactively
How much is available to individuals for training? • $5,000 per year for dislocated workers with a maximum of $10,000 up to two years. * • Up to $4,000 for other adults in non-nursing programs. • A maximum of $10,000 up to two years for adults in nursing programs. • One time only *Exception: Maximum of $3,000 for CDL-A Training
Where do I begin? • Become a RochesterWorks! member • Make an appointment to meet with a career center representative at least 4 weeks before you plan to start training
What You’ll Need… • Social Security Card • Photo ID • Green Card (for aliens) • Proof of Income • Layoff letter/notice of layoff
Make Your Case! • Updated or current resume • Proof of a thorough job search • Job postings • Pre-hire letter for specific occupations (e.g., asbestos removal, CDL-A truck driving) • Self Assessment Questionnaire
Check-out Training Programs! • Visit different programs • Ask questions about program graduation rates and placement outcomes • Complete/obtain documents related to program • Classroom training worksheet • Acceptance letter from school • Bill with start and end dates • Program outline & Plan of Study
