Learned Behaviors • Imprinting-first few movements a newborn sees is the mother ( a mental picture engrained). • Keeps new-born near mother and learn what others in their species look like. • Conditioning is a learned response to a good or bad stimulus. (Homework done correctly = 100). • Trial-and-Error is learning to perform a task more skillfully over time. • Insight learning -problem solving applying reasoning

  5. Communication • Use scents, sounds, and body language to communicate. • Pheromones are scents that affect other’s behavior. • Aggression is a threatening behavior to gain control over others. • Marking territory

Behavior cycles • Circadian cycles-daily behavior cycle (work during day and sleep at night). • Hibernation- a state of reduced activity during the winter when food is scarce. • Migration is a regular seasonal journey from one place to another and back again. • To find food • Find more suitable living area • Find a mate • Behavioral adaptation that has evolved over time to help animals survive.
