Facts about William Wegman: • Wegman has been using dogs in his artwork since the early 1970’s. • Wegman poses his dogs in his studio, often photographing them in costume or staged settings. • Wegman transforms his ordinary pets into canine supermodels. This is called anthropomorphism.
What is anthropomorphism? • “Anthrop” comes from anthropology which is the study of human beings. • “Morph” is a verb that means to change or transform. SO... Anthropomorphism means giving animals (or objects) human traits.
