Local Alcohol Profiles Alcohol related admission rate • Continues to increase, but is slowing • Chesterfield and Bolsover above England and regional average • South Derbyshire saw largest long term increase • Erewash saw the largest increase in 2010/11 • Under 18’s admission rates recently seen reduction
What have we been doing? • Violence, Alcohol Harm and Licensing Groups (VAL’s) • Consistently and effectively tackling problematic licensed premises • Reducing violence • Awareness campaigns • Designated Public Place Orders
What have we been doing? • Night-Time Economy (NTE) • Street Pastors & Street Angels • Mobile triage • Road closures • NTE Manager – evening briefings • Pubwatch
What have we been doing? • Under-age Sales • Test-purchase activity • Challenge 25 • Alcohol Diversion Scheme • Arrest Referral Workers • Hospital Alcohol and Drug Liaison Team at Chesterfield Royal
What have we been doing? Adult Treatment Services • Single point of contact and triage assessment • 50% of adults exit our service alcohol-free • Average reduction in consumption of 22 units per day • 500 public-facing workers per year trained to deliver Brief Interventions (IBA)
What have we been doing? Adult Treatment Services cont. • Developed locality-based services in partnership with the voluntary sector, in areas where data indicated a poor response to engaging with services • Increased the availability for supported community detoxification, reducing inpatient costs by over 300% for this intervention
What have we been doing? Young People • Substance Misuse Treatment Services • In the first 11 months worked with: • 86 young people • 48 of which used alcohol as first, second or third drug of choice • Harm Minimisation • New screening tool • B-Safe • Focus on those with multiple vulnerabilities
