  8. A great Christmas present: "Mriya" visits Amsterdam. Our airport has a lot of bridges that could not handle the weight of the 225 so the aircraft had to stay on the west side of the airport. It seen here parked on a taxiway and the crew are preparing the aircraft for the loading procedure.

The massive AN-225 Mriya (NATO name Cossak) never fails to impress, this head on close up does not include all six engines but illustrates the immense size of the aircraft and how similar it is to its sister aircraft the AN124. It also shows the mounts used for the carrying the Buran shuttle. The aircraft was departing back to Kiev on a ferry flight from EMA.

  25. Most noticeable aspect of the Mriya cockpit are the six engine throttle levers.
