  1. Welcome toBack to School Night Kindergarten Mrs. Hansen & Mrs. Saladin Main Avenue Elementary

  2. Mrs. Saladin has been a teacher for 26 years. She has always taught in the Robla School District and lives in Sacramento with her husband. She has a grown up son who graduated from UC Berkeley and he now lives in the Bay Area. Mrs. Hansen has been a teacher for 17 years, 15 of those in the Robla School District. She lives in Woodland with her husband and junior high son.

  3. Goals For Kindergarten standards • Letters/sounds/sight words/beginning readers • Legible printing with phonetic spelling • How to hold a pencil • Count and write to at least 30 • Sorting and patterning • Identify shapes • Beginning understanding of time and calendar

  4. Classroom Rules • Listen when someone is talking. • Stop when someone asks you to. • Class meeting weekly to resolve any other problems and give compliments.

  5. Good Work Awards • Earn them for working like kindergarteners. • Receive 5 for bringing back homework. • Earn them for leading in team points at the end of the week. • Spend them on Fridays to choose from the grab tubs. • “Pay” teachers for misbehavior.

  6. School Supplies • Some classroom items are provided by the teachers • Each students should bring: • White board pen • Crayons • Glue stick (1 large size or 2 small sized) • Large pink eraser • Each student needs a backpack daily. • Only School Related Items at school. • Come to school ready to learn and get PLENTY of sleep.

  7. Homework • Kindergarten homework is weekly. • Goes home on Monday – return on Friday. • If complete – 5 GWA and Friday Frolic. • Occasional Spelling tests. • Bookworm envelopes of decodables. • Daily books from class library.

  8. Curriculum • Open Court Reading program • Scott Foresman Math Program • Harcourt California Science Program • Scott Foresman Social Studies • SPARK P.E. program

  11. Volunteers We are looking for volunteers to help out in the room. Check the sign-up page for times you can help out in the room.

  12. Field Trips Early Spring trip to the Sacramento Zoo. And we have received a partial grant to go to Fairytale Town as well.

  13. Snacks At our morning recess we have a quick snack. We are looking for donations of healthy snacks or money to purchase snacks for the class.
