This is YOUR chance! Let other youth know what you think about prescription drug use and misuse!
Tell us what YOU think! Create a 30 or 60 second VideoPublic Service Announcement (PSA).
What do Middle School or High School students need to know about prescription drugs? • Facts? • Statistics? • Rumors vs. Reality?
What can parents or schools do to make a difference with this issue? What can youth do?
Topics and Themes You May Want to Consider • Myths about prescription drugs being safer than street drugs • Preventing young children from finding grown-up’s medicine • Safe storage/ Accessibility of pills in the home • Correct prescription drug disposal • Sharing prescriptions • Overuse of prescription drugs • Using expired prescription drugs • Correct ways to follow prescriptions • And many more!
The Rules…. • All script and video work must be original to this contest. Please do not use ANY copy written materials! • Each PSA must be created by the individual(s) entering the contest. • Participants must be in Middle or High School (Grades 6-12).
The Rules…. • Group participation is encouraged. • Each student participantmust receive permission from a parent or guardian • The online submission form will require • Name, Age, and Grade • Parental Permission • School & Teacher Contact Information • The URL to your video that has been uploaded to a video hosting website (such as youtube.com) • Film Title
Tips on a Making a Winning PSA… • Keep ideas original (Don’t re-make a PSA that you saw on T.V.) • Take your time and make your work stand out • Edit, Edit, Edit • Use CURRENT facts and statistics • Get Creative!!!! • Follow all contest rules • Check out www.keeprxsafe.comfor more info!

Prizes… • All participants will be recognized for participation • Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place PSA videos. • Videos will be featured on the website www.keeprxsafe.com • Top films will receive a prize package • If the winning PSA is a class/school project, the school will also win a prize
Submissions…. All Films MUST be Submitted by April 5, 2013 • You must receive permission from a parent or guardian to enter. • Entries must be submitted by April 5, 2013 through the online form on the www.keeprxsafe.com website. • Questions can be emailed to: mdesalle@indiana.edu
