Travel Arrangements Friday 16th December – Outbound Journey • Pupils arrive at school car park at 5.30am • Coach leaves promptly at 5.45am • Coach to Dover via motorway • Channel crossing with P&O Ferries • Coach to Cologne via motorway • (stops throughout journey for refreshments) • Arrival at hotel for evening meal
Travel Arrangements Sat 17th December – Return Journey • Coach to Calais via motorway • Channel crossing via train • Coach to Bingham via motorway • (stops throughout journey for refreshments) • Arrival at school car park at approx. 9am
Coach Company • Holds correct licence to travel in Europe • Holds suitable levels of insurance • Has a suitable maintenance regime • Coach has seatbelts fitted to each seat • Driver has been police checked and holds current and suitable driving licence • Double Decker Executive Coach with DVD player and reclining seats!!
Ferry Company • P&O Ferries • Subject to stringent safety regulations • Group list handed to reception upon boarding
Train Company • Eurotunnel • Subject to stringent safety regulations • Shorter crossing overnight • Chance for pupils to stretch legs, toilet stop or keep up on sleeping!
Accommodation • A & O Hotel, Neumarkt, Köln • Rooms of 2-3 pupils with staff on same floor • Keys available to lock rooms at night • 24 hour hotel staffed reception • Bar area for buying soft drinks • Restaurant

Itinerary Friday 16th December • Dinner at the Hotel • Late evening visit to the first Christmas Market
Itinerary Saturday 17th December • Visit to Cologne Cathedral • Kaufhof Shopping Challenge • Chocolate Factory Tour • Shopping • Ice Skating • Christmas Markets
Remote Supervision Short periods of time when pupils will be given: • Clear guidelines as to what activities are permitted • Information about how to contact members of staff in the activity area who can reach the group promptly • Clear and understandable boundaries in regards to conduct and time deadlines • Instructions to remain in groups of four or more
Remote Supervision Likely in the following areas: • travelling on the ferry • during free time in the hotel • Kaufhof Shopping • Ice-Skating
Code of Conduct • Applies at all times during the trip • For the enjoyment and safety of the whole group • Please read through carefully with your son/daughter • Sign to indicate you agree with code and that your child will follow it
Luggage • ONE rucksack/handbag for the day in Cologne -packed lunch • ONE small bag for - change of clothes - toiletries
Clothing and Equipment • School Uniform is not needed! • Smart/Casual/Comfortable clothes and shoes • Waterproof coat • Hat/scarf/gloves • Warm jumper/Sweatshirt/Fleece • Overnight clothes for travel back to the UK • All toiletries • European Plug Adapters • Sleeping bag/duvet/pillow
Pocket Money • Recommended €20 • For buying souvenirs, gifts, snacks etc. • Pupils will be responsible for their own money during the trip
Medication • Please label clearly with child’s name, dosage and when it should be taken • Can be handed to group leader on Friday morning for safe-keeping • Please see or contact Mr Dearden if this is the case
Passports • All pupil passports will be looked after by a member of staff during the trip • A photocopy of each passport will be made prior to the trip as a form of ID for pupils to carry at all times • They will be returned when we return to school on Sunday 18th December
EHIC Card • The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) allows you to access state-provided healthcare at a reduced cost or sometimes free of charge • Would be treated on the same basis as a resident of Germany • They will be returned when we return to school on Sunday 18th December
Telephone Tree • In case of early/late return or emergency during the trip • Will be sent home with pupils on Wednesday 14th December • Thank you to main contact volunteers
